INTRODUCTION TO GROW COMPANY INC.
YOUR HEALTH IN THE YEAR 2000.....
HOW GOOD ARE YOUR NUTRIENTS?
BACKGROUND
DISCOVERY AND ISOLATION OF VITAMIN C
In 1937 Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a professor at the University of Szeged in Hungary, was awarded the Noble prize for discovering and isolating Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). He also discovered that the vitamin C crystals he isolated were not as active as (less bio-available) the vitamin C contained in crushed paprika (red pepper) extract. This crucial discovery was lost in the rush to find and "isolate" vitamins and minerals over the years.
ONE MAN'S CRUSADE
Andrew Szalay, also attended the University of Szeged graduating with a degree in Pharmacy in 1946. Andrew was consumed with the idea that if only he could produce vitamins and minerals in a more bio-available form like the extract his hero, Albert Szent-Gyorgyi had tested, people could get the superior nutrition they were trying to achieve without large amounts of vitamins and minerals. He set to design nutrients that closely resembled natural food.
Andrew Szalay
Finally, after a lifetime as a pharmacist and botanical scientist, he was able, at the age of 58, to devote all his waking hours to fulfilling his dream of developing a new form of nutrients. After many failures, one by one he succeeded in developing vitamins and minerals that have been shown to be different from isolated supplements. The new nutrients were as close as possible to the natural food matrix. Each nutrient was imbedded in a matrix that had the greatest affinity toward that specific nutrient. All the minerals and vitamin D metabolites were grown in a culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, due to natural presence of these components in the yeast. The B vitamins were also developed in yeast concentrate, because of their natural presence in the yeast. In these processes, during the controlled fermentation, nutrients are added to the growth medium for optimum cellular distribution. The rest of the vitamins were developed in a matrix with closest affinity toward that specific vitamin. The resulting complex food matrix imbeds the vitamins and minerals in protein (includes all the essential amino acids), complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber and bioflavonoids.
GROW COMPANY INC
In 1977, Andrew established Grow Company Inc. and introduced these products one by one to the marketplace. After more than two decades these nutrients are sold in over twenty-five countries. These products not only were embraced by the nutritional fields, but also were accepted and are used by many pharmaceutical companies, food industries, and cosmetic manufacturers. Twenty-two years of scientific research, published scientific articles, quality control laboratories furnished by the state of the art instrumentations, microbiological testings of every individual batch, and many other points attest to the viability and superiority of these nutrients. Grow Company named these nutrients "Re-natured". We believe that Re-natured nutrients are not just supplements. They are the lifestyle.
Building Of Grow Company Inc.
WHY NOT ALL YEAST GROWN?
The main concept behind these products was to establish a set of nutrients that closely relate to the natural food. Andrew did not want to create a physical mix or try to force a nutrient in a media without affinity or acceptance. Therefore, twenty years ago when Andrew tried to feed selected vitamins to a growing culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, he realized that these vitamins immediately deactivated the yeast culture. He later on realized that yeast by nature does not contain any of the vitamins A, beta carotene, C, E, K and so on. Hence the yeast does not have the appropriate active sites to accept these nutrients. Therefore, simply adding any of these nutrients to the culture of yeast will not cause the metabolization of that supplement. Furthermore, yeast is grown in the presence of air/oxygen. It is well known that Vitamins A, beta-carotene, C, and E are antioxidants. Therefore, they cannot be added to the yeast during its fermentation process in the presence of oxygen. If added, the finished product will be a physical mixture of inactive yeast and oxidized (useless) form of the specific vitamin. Finally, yeast will not grow at low pH, therefore, addition of an acidic compound like ascorbic acinstruments. All the raw materials, intermediate products, and finished nutrients are assayed by the above-mentioned instruments. Each individual batch is assayed and the results are reported in a specific lot certificate of analysis. Finally, all of the batches are subjected to rigorous microbiological testings and the results are reported accordingly.
CERTIFICATION
Grow Company Inc. is an FDA inspected and registered manufacturing facility. It operates under strict drug manufacturing parameters. All of the Grow Company, Inc. manufacturing parameters are based on cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines established by the Food and Drug Administration. This is a main reason for acceptance of these nutrients by the Fortune 500 companies, which include large pharmaceutical and food manufacturers.
RAW MATERIAL SOURCING
Although most unicellular forms of yeast appeared almost identical under primitive microscopes, early investigators recognized their genetic and physiological variability through their experience with different types of fermentations. Among different strains of yeast, genuine strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is by far the most widely used among yeasts at the commercial level. This is due to Saccharomyces cerevisiae's nutritional characters and its unique properties in countering almost all the minerals, B complex vitamins and precursors of vitamin D. When it comes to yeast, many are afraid of Candida albicans. Candida is the largest yeast genus, comprising approximately 200 species. Since its inception in 1977, Grow Company Inc. has used Saccharomyces cerevisiae as its sole growth medium. Grow Company's licensed products contain only inactive yeast, which has nothing in common with Candida. All of these products are Candida free and microbiologically tested (in their finished form) to assure the absence of any Candida albicans. Grow Company, Inc. utilizes Saccharomyces cerevisiae only from the most reliable source, not by-products of other companies, such as beer brewers, to manufacture its products under cGMP. During the manufacturing of Grow nutrients in live yeast culture we do not use any foreign substrates, such as defoamer, in order to have any short cuts. All the other raw materials used in manufacturing of the Re-natured nutrients are purchased from an accredited supplier. All of our suppliers follow strict cGMP and many are FDA inspected and registered. The parameters for manufacturing RE-natured are designed to harvest a product as close as it appears in nature, not fortified, not mixed, and specifically not forced. It has been Grow Company, Inc's intention from the beginning not to sacrifice quality for price.
QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Quality Control Department of Grow Company Inc. is equipped with three HPLCs (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), a GC (Gas Chromatography), Amino Acid Analyzer, IR (Infra Red Spectrophotometer), two UVs (Ultra Violet Spectrophotometer), Sugar Analyzer, Microscope, pH meter, Karl Fischer unit, high speed centrifuges, incubators, vacuum ovens, titration units, and other state of the art manufacturing and analytical equipment.
SCIENTIFIC PROOF
We have had numerous scientific communities to test our products. The results confirm and validate the superiority of these products. We have strived and achieved a protocol that produces nutrients closely resembling natural food and its constituents. These products contain high levels of protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, essential lipids and the appropriate enzymes. The way nature intended to produce natural food, not by force, only by scientific paths, Grow Company, Inc. since its inception, based on an internal policy, every year has spent a large portion of its profit for upgrading its analytical, manufacturing capabilities, and to verify/validate its nutrients. These upgrades and verifications are an ongoing part of our culture.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
It has been Grow Company Inc's policy to invite everyone to come and visit our state of the art Analytical Department, manufacturing facilities, Quality Control Department and storage/shipping facilities. We ask every individual or company to visit and challenge us.
